I have memories of visiting my Grandma and she often had Bob Ross playing on an old T.V. in the background of whatever project she probably willingly got twisted into doing. It doesn't take much to tug her into helping out with anything or anyone. A lot of the time I think it's her own sweet conscience that pulls her in honestly. Anyway, I recently came across the knowledge that most of "The Joy of Painting" episodes are on youtube. On top of that, we got a new T.V. not too long ago that has easy access to youtube and so Bob Ross's calming voice has been heard much throughout our house as of late. No one has complained though. Infact my younger siblings have been intrigued of how magic Bobby makes it look to build his landscapes. We refer to him as Bobby because we feel like he's our pal by the way he conducts himself in his show. Here are a few of the many pieces I've been working on. I haven't been using oil paints so I've had to twist Bob's methods to work with acrylic and I still haven't got it completely figured out, but I'm learning :)

You look at trees differently once you try to paint them. Not just trees, you look at everything different. You look at highlights on specific leaves or how the clouds blend color in a pretty way and this is when you're out in actual nature and it's simply because you took time to try and paint similar things. You see the real beauty of things and life and earth. It's Been fun to hear talk of, "happy little trees" or how, "every tree needs a friend" throughout my house. There really there isn't a word that comes out of Bobby's mouth that isn't quotable. On top of that, it is all so uplifting and encouraging. I'm thankful to know about him and allow myself to be influenced by his timeless art / life lessons.
